Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday criticized the Telangana Congress government for sowing division among communities. Speaking at a massive rally in Sirpur Kagaznagar ahead of the February 11 municipal elections , he alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was appeasing select groups to cling to power. Fadnavis warned that such politics, reminiscent of pre-independence policies, could harm future generations.

Reservations Controversy and Religious Divide

The CM accused the state government of attempting to reallocate SC/ST reservations to other religious groups, calling it a move that could jeopardize children’s future. “People may one day question their parents about what was done during this time,” he said.

BJP’s Winning Wave from Maharashtra

Highlighting BJP’s massive victories in recent Maharashtra municipal polls, Fadnavis said the party’s success could influence Telangana. The BJP won 240 of 280 municipalities and 26 of 29 mayoral posts, including Mumbai’s mayoral seat for the first time.

Economic Mismanagement in Telangana

Fadnavis blamed Telangana’s debt and slow growth on corruption under BRS and Congress governments, contrasting it with rapid development in BJP-ruled states.

Godavari Water Agreement and Development Critique

He recalled supporting the 2015 Godavari water agreement , which aided irrigation expansion, but accused state governments of failing to fund necessary land acquisition. He stressed that urban development schemes like Smart Cities, AMRUT, Vande Bharat trains, and highway expansion thrive only under BJP administrations.

Call to Action

Fadnavis urged Telangana voters to back BJP for accelerated urban development, portraying the party as the key to effective governance and progress.
