The Hindi song Sarke Chunar from the upcoming film KD The Devil , featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi , has triggered widespread backlash over its allegedly sexually explicit lyrics, prompting the video’s removal from YouTube shortly after its release.

The track, uploaded two days ago, quickly went viral for its provocative content and shock value. While the Hindi version has since disappeared from the platform, versions in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil remain accessible online. The multilingual action drama is scheduled for theatrical release on April 30.

According to government sources, the controversy has reached the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting , which is reportedly considering issuing a notice to YouTube, noting that the film itself has not yet undergone public release.

Music rights for the film are held by Anand Audio , while production is backed by KVN Productions . The Hindi version of the song is sung by Mangli , with lyrics adapted by Raqeeb Alam from the original written by director Prem . Music is composed by Arjun Janya .

Several prominent figures from the film and music industry voiced concern over the song’s tone. Singer Armaan Malik , known for hits such as Bol Do Na Zara and Wajah Tum Ho, wrote on social media that he wished he “could unhear” the track, describing it as evidence of declining standards in commercial songwriting. Filmmaker Onir also criticised the situation, questioning why authorities had not moved to ban the song.

Online reactions have been equally sharp. Many users accused the makers of promoting vulgarity in mainstream entertainment, lamenting what they described as a shift away from lyrical depth toward shock-driven content. Some called for immediate action against the song, while others expressed disappointment over the normalization of explicit material in popular music.

KD The Devil, a Kannada-language film dubbed into multiple Indian languages, continues to generate attention ahead of its release now as much for controversy as for its star cast.
