Every Vote Matters: YS Jagan Calls on YSRCP Cadre to Stay Vigilant During Voter Roll Revision
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged party leaders and cadre to remain alert during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, describing the exercise as critical to protecting the democratic rights of voters across the state.
Addressing a review meeting with senior leaders at the party headquarters in Tadepalli , Jagan said the voter list revision process initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on June 15 would continue until July 14. He stressed that the coming weeks would be crucial in ensuring that every eligible voter remains on the electoral rolls.
Calling for continuous monitoring at the grassroots level, Jagan directed constituency coordinators, regional in-charges and party functionaries to closely track the revision exercise in their respective areas. According to him, the verification process, being conducted with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date , will cover nearly 4.1 crore voters spread across 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.
The YSRCP chief said electoral rolls form the foundation of the democratic process and any errors, omissions or wrongful deletions could directly affect citizens' voting rights. He asked party workers to scrutinize voter lists on a daily basis and immediately bring any discrepancies to the notice of election authorities. Issues that remain unresolved at the local level, he added, should be escalated without delay to the party's state leadership.
Highlighting the importance of the exercise, Jagan warned that restoring a voter’s name after it has been removed from the rolls can be a complicated and time-consuming process. For that reason, he said, preventive vigilance is far more effective than corrective action after the revision process is completed.
During the meeting, Jagan also alleged that the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu could attempt to influence the electoral rolls through the misuse of administrative machinery. He claimed that there was a need for heightened scrutiny to ensure that genuine voters, particularly YSRCP supporters, are not excluded from the lists.
He called upon Booth Level Agents (BLAs) , constituency coordinators and local party leaders to work in close coordination throughout the revision period. Their collective responsibility, he said, is to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
Describing the protection of voter rights as a “sacred responsibility,” Jagan urged party cadres to treat the voter roll revision as a statewide campaign. He emphasized that safeguarding every legitimate vote is essential not only for the party but also for strengthening the integrity of the electoral system and preserving public faith in democracy.
