Every Tribal Family to Get Safe Water, Pucca House by 2027: CM Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that every tribal family in the state will be provided safe drinking water and a pucca house by 2027. Addressing World Tribal Day celebrations at Ambedkar Kala Vedika in Vijayawada on Sunday, he said the NDA government was committed to tribal welfare, constitutional rights and preservation of their unique cultural heritage.

The government has allocated ₹4,764 crore for the development of the state’s 27.3 lakh tribal population. Through ITDAs, it is focusing on infrastructure, livelihoods, employment and skill development. To improve healthcare access in remote areas, 108 and 104 mobile medical services and feeder ambulances have been deployed.

Under the ‘Adivi Talli Bata’ initiative, 905 km of roads have been completed at a cost of ₹1,000 crore, while work is being expedited to connect 2,336 tribal habitations. New mobile towers are also being installed to improve digital connectivity in remote areas.

Naidu said Araku Coffee, whose development was initiated decades ago, had evolved into a globally recognised brand. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s international promotion of the coffee, he said cultivation would be expanded by another one lakh acres. Tribal regions would be developed as hubs for coffee, pepper and turmeric, with processing, branding and marketing facilities planned for forest produce and local products such as Sitampeta turmeric, Rampachodavaram rubber, pineapple, honey and palm jaggery.

The Chief Minister announced skill training for 1.5 lakh tribal youth and specialised coaching for competitive examinations. Nineteen agreements signed during the celebrations are expected to benefit nearly 60,000 people.

He also announced plans to promote tourism in tribal areas while ensuring that local communities benefit through employment and income opportunities. Citing President Droupadi Murmu, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, N.T. Rama Rao and Narendra Modi, Naidu said determination and opportunity could help anyone reach the highest positions.

Naidu urged citizens to contribute to nation-building through their respective professions and stressed environmental and water conservation. He said the state was working towards his vision of ‘Swarna Andhra 2047’.

He also highlighted the naming of Bhogapuram International Airport after Alluri Sitarama Raju and the Guinness World Record achieved by tribal Dhimsa dancers, saying the government would continue supporting tribal culture, organic farming and economic self-reliance.
