Ensure no eligible voter is left out during SIR, TN CM tells party workers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday urged his party workers to ensure that no eligible voter is left out during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

Speaking during a virtual interaction with DMK district secretaries from Anna Arivalayam, the party headquarters, Stalin highlighted that public awareness about the SIR exercise remained insufficient. “At many places, people said that even polling officials such as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) did not fully comprehend it,” he noted in his capacity as DMK president.

He instructed party functionaries and constituency in-charges to stay vigilant throughout the SIR campaign. Party sources said Stalin specifically asked DMK booth-level agents to monitor the process closely and ensure that forms were being properly distributed and explained to the public.

The DMK has previously questioned the timing of the SIR, especially since it is being conducted during the ongoing Northeast Monsoon, and expressed concerns that the exercise could inadvertently lead to the removal of voters from minority communities.

Chairing the video conference to discuss the month-long revision drive, Stalin emphasized that “not even a single eligible voter’s name should be left out in the SIR campaign” and that ineligible voters should not be included in the electoral rolls.
