England Name Women’s T20 World Cup Squad, Same Team To Face India
All-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt will captain a 15-member England squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Tuesday.
The same squad will also feature in the preceding series against India and New Zealand in May-June, serving as crucial preparation ahead of the global tournament. This will be Sciver-Brunt’s seventh appearance at the T20 World Cup.
The India women's national cricket team will tour England for three T20Is and a one-off Test at Lord's Cricket Ground. While the T20Is are scheduled for late May and early June, the Test will be held from July 10 to 13 , marking 50 years since England Women’s first match at the historic venue.
Among the new inclusions, uncapped 18-year-old spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman has earned her maiden call-up, alongside Issy Wong and Lauren Filer. Experienced batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge is set to play in her eighth T20 World Cup , while Charlie Dean has been named vice-captain . Fast bowler Lauren Bell is expected to lead the pace attack.
Head coach Charlotte Edwards, who captained England to their 2009 T20 World Cup title , said selecting the squad was extremely challenging due to the depth of talent. She added that hosting the tournament presents a special opportunity to further elevate women’s cricket in the country.
Sciver-Brunt expressed confidence in the squad, recalling England’s past successes, including the 2009 T20 World Cup and the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2017 triumph, and said the team is determined to replicate those achievements.
The tournament begins on June 12 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground , with England aiming to make a strong start on home soil.
In addition, squads for the ODI series against New Zealand women's national cricket team and the T20I series against both New Zealand and India have also been named. Kira Chathli and Jodi Grewcock received their first international call-ups for the ODI leg. Meanwhile, Sophia Dunkley, Dean and Wyatt-Hodge will miss the ODI series to manage workloads, while Sarah Glenn continues to recover from injury.
