Endgame Returns: Marvel Sets September Re-Release Ahead of Doomsday
Marvel Studios is bringing back its record-breaking superhero epic Avengers: Endgame to cinemas this September with a new theatrical version designed to reconnect audiences with the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.
Titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, the special re-release is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 25, 2026, just months before the next Avengers film reaches cinemas on December 18. The return is expected to give fans another opportunity to experience the conclusion of the Infinity Saga on the big screen while introducing additional material tied to the MCU’s next major chapter.
The Encore edition will feature new footage, along with a specially prepared introduction and additional material intended to create a narrative connection with Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel has not yet revealed all details of the newly added scenes, keeping much of the content under wraps.
The re-release will also benefit from Disney’s Infinity Vision premium theatrical presentation, which is being positioned as a new standard for large-format cinema experiences combining high-quality projection, large screens and immersive sound.
Avengers: Endgame, originally released in 2019, became a global cultural phenomenon and concluded the original Avengers storyline following the events of Avengers: Infinity War. It went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history, with its emotional finale becoming a defining moment for the MCU.
The Encore release comes at a crucial point for Marvel, as Avengers: Doomsday is expected to bring together characters and storylines from across the franchise. Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, marking a major shift from his iconic role as Tony Stark.
While some fans are eager to revisit Endgame with fresh footage, others have questioned whether the additional material is enough to warrant another theatrical viewing. Nevertheless, Marvel is betting that nostalgia, new content and the buildup to Doomsday will bring audiences back to theaters.
