Emraan Hashmi, Yami Gautam unveil trailer of hard-hitting courtroom drama Haq in Mumbai
Bollywood stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, along with co-stars Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, and director Suparn S. Varma, launched the trailer of their upcoming courtroom drama Haq releasing on November 7, 2025 at a PVR theatre in Mumbai on Monday.
Inspired by the historic 1985 Shah Bano case in which the Supreme Court granted maintenance to a divorced Muslim woman, sparking national debate and leading to the 1986 Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, Haq delves into themes of justice, gender equality, and civil rights in contemporary India.
Emraan Hashmi described the film as a “neutral, pro-women story told from a liberal Muslim perspective,” emphasizing that the project seeks to raise awareness about social and legal equality.
Yami Gautam, who plays a key role, shared that Haq is one of the most powerful stories she has been part of. Known for her nuanced performances and socially conscious choices, Gautam said the film “goes beyond courtroom drama to explore how faith, identity, and justice intersect in the lives of ordinary women.”
Director Suparn S. Varma said the film aims to “spark meaningful conversations about women’s rights and the evolution of law in a diverse society.”
Haq is produced by Harman Baweja, Vishal Gurnani, Vineet Jain, and Juhi Parekh Mehta, with Rowena Baweja and Sandeep Singh serving as co-producers. Vicky Jain is the associate producer, while Rameshchandra Yadav serves as the executive producer.
Known for supporting real, issue-based stories, producer Yashmi Gupta’s creative association with the project reinforces its commitment to authenticity and emotional depth.
With a compelling plot, a strong ensemble cast, and a socially resonant message, Haq promises to be a gripping courtroom drama that challenges perceptions and champions women’s voices.
