Employment Scheme Gets Major Overhaul: 125 Days of Work Now Guaranteed

Devarakadra’s Fardipur village recently hosted a grand awareness program on the Vikasit Bharat Ji-Ram Ji scheme , with MP D.K. Aruna attended as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. She highlighted that the central government has revamped the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to implement it more effectively under the Ji-Ram Ji banner, aiming for comprehensive village development .

MP D.K. Aruna revealed that the scheme now provides employment guarantee for 125 days , up from the previous 100 days. She emphasized that transparency and elimination of corruption are the primary goals of the Ji-Ram Ji initiative. The program also allows villages to hold gram sabhas where residents themselves can decide on development works and the provision of essential infrastructure.

The changes were introduced in response to concerns that allocated funds were not visibly translating into village development . MP Aruna dismissed Congress allegations that the central government is reducing funds for the employment guarantee scheme, clarifying that it continues to be fully funded by the Centre , with an additional 40% contribution from state governments , which would accelerate rural development.

Highlighting the long-term vision, she stated that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working towards the Vikasit Bharat 2047 goal , providing farmers with Kisan Samman Nidhi and subsidized loans . She criticized the state government for failing to share farmer data with the Centre, which has resulted in some farmers not receiving their entitled benefits.

MP Aruna stressed that proper implementation of the Ji-Ram Ji scheme would not only generate employment but also improve infrastructure in villages . She urged villages to make planning decisions through gram sabhas , asserting that Vikasit Bharat can be achieved only if villages actively participate in their development , a vision the central government aims to realize through this initiative.
