
Email Bomb Threat to IMD Office in Hyderabad
Authorities were alerted after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Hyderabad received a bomb threat email , creating tense moments at the premises for some time.
Police said an unidentified person sent the threat via email to the IMD office located in the Begumpet area of the city. The email claimed that 14 RDX bombs had been planted inside the building, prompting officials to immediately inform the police.
Acting swiftly, police rushed to the spot and evacuated employees working in the building to safer locations. Bomb squad and dog squad teams later conducted a thorough search of the premises. Police said every room and floor of the building was inspected, but no suspicious objects were found.
Speaking about the incident, an officer from Begumpet Police Station said, “A bomb threat email was received at the IMD office in Begumpet. After receiving the information, bomb squad and dog squad teams reached the spot and inspected the entire building. However, no bombs or suspicious objects were found. A case has been registered and an investigation has been launched .”
Meanwhile, a similar incident had recently occurred in Telangana. On February 26 , the Warangal district court also received a bomb threat through email. Police immediately reached the location and, along with bomb disposal teams, conducted a thorough inspection of the court premises. Although the situation is currently calm, police are continuing their investigation to identify the person who sent the email. More details are awaited.
