Eluru Pastor Held For Repeated Sexual Assault Of Minor Girl
In a shocking incident reported from Kamavarapukota mandal in Eluru district , a man who was expected to guide society through spiritual teachings allegedly turned into a predator and sexually assaulted a minor girl, triggering outrage across the state.
According to the police, the accused, Choutapalli Rambabu , was working locally as a pastor. Owing to his acquaintance with the victim’s family, he frequently visited their house for prayer gatherings. During this period, Rambabu allegedly targeted the minor girl and sexually assaulted her multiple times over the last four months while threatening to kill her if she revealed the abuse to anyone.
Police said the victim remained silent out of fear. However, after the girl reportedly became pregnant, the accused allegedly forced her to consume a high dosage of contraceptive pills in an attempt to prevent the matter from coming to light. As a result, the girl suffered severe bleeding and her health deteriorated.
Alarmed by her condition, the parents shifted her to a hospital for treatment, where medical examinations reportedly revealed the sexual assault.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Eluru Government Hospital , and doctors said her condition is stable.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, police registered a case against Rambabu under the POCSO Act . Authorities are also investigating charges related to sexual assault, criminal intimidation, and administering harmful medication endangering the victim’s life.
The incident has sparked widespread anger among local residents, who expressed concern over trusted acquaintances committing such crimes against children. Women’s groups and locals demanded stringent punishment for the accused, alleging that he misused a spiritual façade to commit the offence.
Social activists also urged parents to remain more vigilant about children’s safety and to closely monitor even familiar individuals.
