Elon Musk Promises AI-Generated ‘The Odyssey’ Film, Calls It True to Homer’s Vision

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has claimed that xAI's Grok Imagine will produce a full-length AI-generated adaptation of The Odyssey before the end of 2026, describing it as "historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." The announcement comes shortly after the theatrical release of Christopher Nolan's big-budget adaptation of the ancient Greek epic.

Musk shared the statement on X alongside an AI-generated clip inspired by The Odyssey, writing, "Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." However, he did not reveal any production details, release timeline, or technical roadmap for the proposed AI film.

The announcement follows months of criticism from Musk directed at Christopher Nolan's adaptation. Earlier this year, he objected to the casting of Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy, arguing that it conflicted with Homer's description of the character. Musk also endorsed a social media post by conservative commentator Matt Walsh, who claimed Nolan's casting choices were influenced by concerns over racism, replying simply, "True."

Musk's remarks triggered widespread debate online. During an episode of The View, actress and television host Whoopi Goldberg defended Nyong'o, saying she is widely regarded as one of the world's most beautiful women and questioning the criticism surrounding her casting.

Based on Homer's classic epic poem, The Odyssey follows Odysseus on his long and perilous journey home after the Trojan War, encountering mythical creatures and formidable challenges along the way.
