Elephant family foundation India launches children’s book on wildlife

The Elephant Family Foundation India (EFFI) has released its debut illustrated children’s book, “Sofie’s Great Wildlife Adventure”, aimed at encouraging young readers to explore India’s natural environment and understand the importance of wildlife conservation.

The narrative follows Sofie, a curious young girl preparing for her first visit to a wildlife sanctuary. Guided by her mother, Sofie learns about animal habitats, the ecological roles of different species, littering prevention, and proper behaviour when visiting wildlife areas. Through imaginative storytelling and vibrant illustrations, the book introduces children to the principles of conservation while fostering an appreciation for India’s biodiversity.

“The book is for every child who has ever been curious about the world beyond their window. If we can nurture that sense of wonder early, we can raise a generation that cares deeply for the wild,” Khan said in a statement.

The foreword, penned by acclaimed wildlife conservationist Ratna Singh, describes the story as an invitation to experience adventure through curiosity and observation, highlighting that meaningful engagement with nature is “quiet, curious, and full of wonder.”

“Sofie’s Great Wildlife Adventure” is not for sale and will be distributed across schools and children’s communities, where EFFI will conduct workshops and interactive sessions to further educate young readers on wildlife protection and human-animal coexistence.

This initiative builds on EFFI’s broader conservation efforts in India, which include public awareness campaigns, community-based programmes, and the use of art and literature to engage children in environmental stewardship. The foundation aims to foster a lifelong connection with nature among children and encourage responsible attitudes toward wildlife from an early age.

By combining storytelling, illustration, and interactive learning, EFFI seeks to inspire curiosity, empathy, and practical understanding of conservation in children, promoting a generation more attuned to the ecological and ethical significance of India’s wildlife.
