
Eight Indian Boxers Enter Finals At Asian U17 Boxing Championships
India’s U-17 girls’ boxing contingent continued its impressive campaign at the Asian Championships , with eight boxers storming into the finals in Tashkent on Monday.
The Indian pugilists delivered a strong overall performance, securing final berths across multiple weight categories with convincing and contrasting victories .
The finalists include Rakhi (46kg), Khushi Chand (48kg), Navya (57kg), Diya (63kg), Himanshi (70kg), Jyoti (75kg), Vanshika (80kg), and Gurseerat Kaur (80+kg) . Each of them showcased skill and determination to outclass their opponents in the semifinal stage.
While the Indian camp celebrated a dominant showing in the finals qualification, four other boxers had to settle for bronze medals after semifinal defeats. These included Mamta Murlidhar (52kg), Manjunath Lamani (54kg), Ishika (60kg), and Harnoor Kaur (66kg) , who fought hard but fell short against their respective rivals.
Overall, the performance highlighted the growing depth of India’s youth boxing structure, with a strong presence across several weight divisions in the championship.
The eight finalists will now aim to convert their strong run into gold medals as India looks to finish the tournament on a high note.
