The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, giving more time for the submission and disposal of claims and objections. The final electoral roll for the state will now be published on November 30.

The Commission revised the existing schedule following a request from the Telangana election authorities. In a letter sent to the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on October 29, the ECI said it had considered the request submitted by the state election machinery on the same day before approving the changes.

According to the revised schedule, the process of receiving and resolving claims and objections will continue from August 17 to November 26. The final voter list will subsequently be released on November 30.

The special revision is being conducted with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, which will be used to determine voter eligibility for the updated electoral rolls.

The Election Commission has also directed the state election authorities to communicate the revised schedule to all concerned officials. It has emphasised the need to ensure wide publicity about the changes through all available communication channels so that voters are aware of the extended deadline and the revised timeline.

The Commission has further instructed the authorities to formally inform political parties in writing about the updated schedule.

The extension is expected to provide additional time for voters and other stakeholders to raise concerns, submit claims and seek corrections during the revision process. The exercise aims to ensure that the electoral rolls are updated before the final list is published at the end of November.
