EAM Jaishankar meets Israel PM Netanyahu to boost bilateral cooperation

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, holding wide-ranging talks aimed at further strengthening the India–Israel strategic partnership across key areas including technology, economy, connectivity, skills and talent development, and security, while also exchanging views on regional and global developments.

Jaishankar is in Israel on a two-day visit during which he also called on President Isaac Herzog and held bilateral discussions with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar and Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat. The engagements reflect India’s focus on expanding cooperation with Israel across political, economic and strategic domains.

The visit has gained significance as it comes amid preparations for Netanyahu’s proposed trip to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netanyahu recently spoke over the phone, after which the Israeli leader said the two would be “meeting very soon”, though no dates have been announced.

During his meeting with Netanyahu, Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Modi and discussed ways to deepen collaboration in priority sectors critical to long-term bilateral interests.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said he discussed “deeper cooperation in tech, economy, security and connectivity”, reaffirming the shared commitment to the India–Israel strategic partnership. He later added that he valued Netanyahu’s perspectives on regional and global issues and expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to “grow from strength to strength”.

Netanyahu also acknowledged the meeting on social media, sharing photographs from the interaction.

Jaishankar arrived in Tel Aviv from Abu Dhabi, where he participated in the Sir Bani Yas Forum and attended the 16th India–UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the fifth round of the India–UAE Strategic Dialogue.
