DUSU 2026: New Office-Bearers Visit Satya Niketan Collapse Site, Seek Accountability

Newly elected Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) representatives on Monday visited Satya Niketan to pay homage to those who died in the September 6 building collapse and sought accountability from authorities.

DUSU president Yash Dabas, secretary Riya Chhawdi and joint secretary Lakshya Raj Singh reached the site two days after the university’s student body election results were declared, according to an ABVP statement.

The ABVP won three of the four central-panel posts, securing the positions of president, secretary and joint secretary. Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president’s post. Dabas defeated NSUI candidate Vijay Shankar Meena by 2,053 votes, polling 24,576 votes. The ABVP also retained the secretary and joint secretary positions it had won in 2025.

At the collapse site, the newly elected representatives demanded accountability and urged the administration to take concrete measures to prevent similar incidents. The September 6 collapse claimed the lives of multiple Delhi University students and raised concerns over the safety of accommodation used by students. The incident had triggered concerns over student safety and accommodation, with the newly elected representatives urging authorities to address those concerns and prevent similar incidents in future.
