The much-awaited trailer of Kaantha has finally dropped, offering audiences a visually rich and emotionally stirring glimpse into the golden yet turbulent era of Tamil cinema. Co-written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the upcoming Tamil-language period drama thriller stars Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles.

Set against the backdrop of the early Tamil film industry, Kaantha is inspired by the life and times of legendary actor-singer M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar (MKT) cinema’s first true superstar. The trailer showcases Dulquer Salmaan in a charismatic yet intense portrayal of a man whose fame, artistry, and ambition redefine the boundaries of Indian cinema, while also exposing the personal struggles behind the glamour.

The film is jointly produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their banners Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films respectively. It promises to be both a cinematic tribute and a layered exploration of how the movie industry shapes and sometimes consumes its own stars.

Speaking about the film, Rana Daggubati said that Kaantha “is not just about one man’s rise and fall, but about the soul of cinema itself, how films are made, how dreams are built, and how they change people forever.”

Director Selvamani Selvaraj, known for his bold visual storytelling, has reportedly combined historical authenticity with emotional depth, blending real events with creative dramatization. The film’s music and art design aim to transport viewers into the classic era of studio filmmaking, a world filled with artistry, ambition, and intrigue.

Kaanta (stylized as Kaantha ) will be released worldwide on November 14, 2025, coinciding with Children’s Day, and will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi dubbed versions.

With its stellar cast, period setting, and compelling premise, Kaantha is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Tamil films of the year, a cinematic journey into the heart of the film industry and the timeless pursuit of stardom.
