Drugs Scandal Sparks Political Turmoil

Amid the fallout of a high-profile drugs case in Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized TDP MP P. Mahesh Kumar for his alleged involvement, sparking political debate.

Speaking about the police raid at former MLA Rohith Reddy’s farmhouse in Moinabad, near Hyderabad , Jagan said the TDP ’s moral standing is under question. He noted that TDP is the only party with an MP caught in a drugs scandal and questioned why no decisive action was taken. He added that this incident has eroded public trust and exposed failures in maintaining law and order.

He also criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu ’s silence, warning that such inaction encourages misconduct. At a press meet, Jagan also addressed other controversies, including the leak of private videos involving TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu .

Women’s Safety and Governance Concerns

Jagan alleged that women’s security has been neglected and crimes are often met with delayed committee reports rather than immediate action. He emphasized the need for firm governance to prevent public distress, particularly among women.

YSRCP Achievements and Financial Management

Recalling his tenure, Jagan said the YSRCP took office in 2019 with only ₹100 crore in the state treasury. Despite financial constraints, welfare schemes were implemented without delay, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 99% of manifesto promises were fulfilled.

Of the ₹3.3 lakh crore borrowed during his tenure, ₹2.7 lakh crore was directly credited to beneficiaries’ accounts, aiding farmers, women, and youth, and strengthening rural economies. He criticized the current NDA government for taking larger loans in just two years while failing to deliver on promises.

Allegations of Corruption in Amaravati

Jagan accused the government of large-scale corruption in the Amaravati Greenfield capital development, claiming state land is being sold below value for the benefit of a few.

He announced plans for a padyatra (foot march) to assess public difficulties firsthand, urging party workers to support the initiative.
