In a major announcement that has thrilled cinema lovers, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has revealed that Drishyam 3 will hit theatres worldwide on May 21, 2026, marking his 65th birthday. The actor unveiled the release date through a gripping poster on X, featuring the chilling tagline, “The Past Never Stays Silent,” along with the tease, “Georgekutty arrives.”
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third installment brings back the beloved original cast, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, and Siddique. The film, mounted on a reported budget of ₹100 crore, is backed by Aashirvad Cinemas, Panorama Studios, and Pen India. Shooting for the project was completed late last year.
The Drishyam franchise, which began with Drishyam in 2013, redefined thriller storytelling in Indian cinema with its layered narrative and the iconic character Georgekutty. Its sequel, Drishyam 2 , released directly on OTT during pandemic, received widespread acclaim for maintaining the suspense and emotional depth of the original.
In a notable development, Drishyam 2 was recently re-released in theatres, giving audiences a chance to experience the gripping sequel on the big screen, something many had missed due to pandemic restrictions. The re-release further reignited excitement around the franchise and set the stage for the third installment.
With Drishyam 3 , expectations are sky-high as fans eagerly await how Georgekutty’s story unfolds next. Speculation is already rife about new twists, deeper secrets, and whether the past will finally catch up with him. The film is also expected to face stiff competition at the box office, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release.
As the countdown begins, Drishyam 3 promises to deliver another edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience, continuing one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated thriller sagas.
