DQ’s Kaantha release postponed amidst Lokah success

Dulquer Salmaan’s much-anticipated period drama Kaantha , initially slated for release on September 12, 2025, has been postponed. The decision comes in light of the overwhelming success of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra , another film produced by Salmaan, which continues to dominate the box office.

In a statement, the makers of Kaantha expressed their gratitude for the audience's support and emphasized their desire to give Lokah the space to maintain its momentum. “We want Chandra's rampage in the box office to keep soaring,” they noted.

Kaantha , directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, is set in 1950s Madras and delves into the world of cinema during that era. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse. While an official new release date has not been announced, reports suggest that the makers are eyeing a Diwali 2025 release to capitalize on the festive season.
