Don't Believe Misleading Campaigns Against Telangana Real Estate: Minister Ponguleti

Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has asserted that reports claiming the state's real estate sector, particularly in Hyderabad, is in decline are baseless and part of a deliberate misinformation campaign. He urged people not to be misled by such narratives, stating that the government's official registration data clearly reflects sustained growth in the sector.

Addressing a programme in Hyderabad on Saturday, the minister said that, as the minister overseeing the Stamps and Registration Department, he has concrete evidence showing that the real estate market has performed strongly during the last two-and-a-half years of the present government. According to him, the sector has recorded 15–20% growth, while flat sales have increased by nearly 40%. He added that the rise in property registrations compared with the previous decade demonstrates the continued expansion of Hyderabad's residential market.

Ponguleti also credited the Congress governments between 2004 and 2014 for laying the groundwork for Hyderabad's emergence as a global investment destination. He said landmark infrastructure projects such as the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and the expansion of the IT sector have significantly enhanced the city's profile and attracted investments from across the world.

Referring to his recent visit to Davos, the minister said several industrialists had expressed interest in investing in Hyderabad. He noted that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is pursuing a planned urban development strategy aimed at strengthening infrastructure and supporting long-term economic growth.

As part of these initiatives, the government will invite tenders within the next 7 to 10 days for the first phase of the Musi Riverfront Development Project, covering 28 kilometres with an estimated investment of ₹7,000 crore. He further announced that the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion will cover 76 kilometres, including connectivity to the Old City, at a cost of ₹24,000 crore. The government also plans to construct radial roads connecting the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) to the ORR, improving transportation links around the city.

On land governance, Ponguleti said the government has introduced the Bhu Bharati Act to strengthen land security and ownership protections. He assured that minor software-related issues associated with the new system would be resolved within 15 to 20 days.

The minister said the government is balancing real estate growth with welfare initiatives by giving equal priority to affordable housing. He announced that the first phase of one lakh Indiramma houses will soon be taken up under the programme. Responding to requests from representatives of the real estate sector, he also said the government would introduce fast-track services to expedite approvals and registration-related processes.
