DMK president M K Stalin on Thursday accused the TVK government of carrying out politically motivated raids on former ministers to divert public attention from governance issues in Tamil Nadu.

In a post on X, Stalin questioned Chief Minister Vijay's priorities, alleging that the administration was focusing on political theatrics rather than addressing concerns over public safety and governance.

He asked whether it was appropriate for the chief minister to deliberate on conducting a roadshow or a “raidshow” to dominate media headlines when women, children and the elderly were allegedly feeling unsafe in the state.

Targeting the ruling TVK, Stalin described it as a “TN Branch Washing Machine”, alleging that the party was accommodating corrupt elements and turning them into political bargaining chips. The DMK chief termed the action against former ministers as “vettri vendetta politics”, claiming that the raids would ultimately fail in court and be rejected by the public.

He alleged that the operations were staged to generate short videos for political campaigning ahead of the Tiruchirappalli East by-election and enable the chief minister to deliver dramatic speeches at public events.

Stalin asserted that such measures would not intimidate DMK workers or weaken the party's resolve to challenge the government. He also raised concerns over what he described as a breakdown in law and order, administrative inefficiency and rising prices, accusing the TVK government of failing to adequately address issues affecting the public.

Warning against attempts to silence the opposition, Stalin said such actions would backfire and strengthen the DMK's determination to expose the government's alleged misdeeds. The remarks come amid heightened political tensions between the ruling TVK and the opposition DMK, with the latter questioning the government's actions against former ministers. The statement did not include a response from the TVK government to Stalin's allegations.
