D.K Shivakumar Says “Time Will Answer” on CM Post Amid Karnataka Congress Tussle
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said that only time will tell when he might ascend to the Chief Minister’s post, stressing that everyone must abide by the Congress high command’s decision .
Speaking to reporters in Mangaluru, Shivakumar acknowledged that people, legislators, and supporters often express a desire to see him as CM, but he maintained a cautious stance. “People, legislators, you (media), and everyone have the desire, but we should all abide by what the party says,” he said.
The remarks come amid a renewed power struggle between Shivakumar and current CM Siddaramaiah , whose son Yathindra Siddaramaiah has publicly stated that his father will complete his five-year term. Shivakumar was asked if he could expect to become CM after the upcoming state budget , but he replied cryptically: “Time will answer.”
Political analysts note that Shivakumar, known for his organizational strength and popularity among legislators , has long been viewed as a contender for the top post in Karnataka. However, the Congress high command’s role remains decisive , and any leadership change could have significant implications for party unity and governance in the state.
With Karnataka’s state budget approaching , the speculation about a potential leadership shift is gaining momentum, keeping both the public and media closely watching developments within the Congress party.
