Djokovic withdraws from Paris Masters after injury scare

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s Paris Masters, just days after abruptly quitting an exhibition match due to a leg injury, a development that has sparked fresh doubts about his fitness ahead of the season-ending ATP Finals.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion, 38, announced his decision on social media, saying he needed more time to recover. His withdrawal comes after he stopped playing mid-match against Taylor Fritz at the Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia, where he had earlier lost to Jannik Sinner.

Djokovic has had a relatively quiet 2025 season, featuring in only eight ATP Tour events outside the four majors. Despite his limited schedule, the Serbian star reached the semifinals at all four Grand Slams, the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open underscoring his enduring consistency even in a reduced calendar.

At his last ATP appearance in Shanghai, Djokovic struggled with a sore hip during a semifinal loss, hinting at the physical toll of another demanding year.

With the ATP Finals in Turin scheduled for November 9–16, it remains uncertain whether Djokovic will recover in time to compete. His absence in Paris now places his year-end participation firmly in question.
