Discipline over chaos - 75 years of DMK's legacy, says Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday highlighted the disciplined nature of his party, contrasting it with the frenzy scene during actor-politician Vijay’s first state-wide tour. While Vijay’s fans created chaotic incidents, sometimes breaking medians to get closer to him, Stalin emphasized that the DMK has always been about order and constructive work.

In a letter to party members, he said, “The DMK is not a movement that gathers unprincipled crowds or disturbs public life. When we gather, we assemble like a disciplined battalion and disperse with a mission after the meeting.” He stressed that the party’s strength lies in its commitment to its principles and the steady work of its cadres.

Stalin also urged all members to attend the annual “Mupperum Vizha” event in Karur on September 17. This event celebrates the birth anniversaries of rationalist leader Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai, and the DMK’s founding day. He said these celebrations inspire party members and allow them to carry forward the legacy of the DMK, which has stood strong for 75 years.

“No old or new political rivals can harm the DMK,” he said, describing the party as a “fortress” firmly rooted in its principles.

The grand celebration is set to begin at 5 pm on September 17 and will be presided over by party general secretary Duraimurugan. Other senior leaders, including party treasurer and Lok Sabha member T.R. Baalu, and principal secretary and Minister K.N. Nehru, are also expected to attend.

Through his message, Stalin not only reminded party members of the DMK’s disciplined approach but also reinforced pride in the party’s history and its continued commitment to building modern Tamil Nadu.
