Director Joseph Kosinski hints at sequel plans for the F1 movie

Director Joseph Kosinski has confirmed that early conversations have begun about a possible sequel to the hit Formula 1 drama F1 . During Contenders Film Los Angeles, the reporter noted that Kosinski appeared excited and creatively charged as he discussed the future of the franchise, suggesting that the world they built still has many unexplored directions. The reporter added that Kosinski’s tone made it clear that the early ideas being discussed are generating genuine enthusiasm.

When asked if Brad Pitt might return as Sonny Hayes, Kosinski directly said, “I personally would love to see what other adventures Sonny Hayes has in his future.” He continued, “I’d love to see what’s happened with the APXGP team and Joshua Pearce, and see how his career goes, so I would love to be able to tell another chapter in that story.” The reporter highlighted that Kosinski described this early stage as one where “we just started kinda dreaming about it,” capturing how the team is only beginning to explore possibilities. From his comments, it is expected that Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, will be back if the sequel moves ahead.

Tim Cook also reacted positively to the growing discussions around a follow-up. The reporter observed that Cook spoke with pride about the response the film received and the scale of Apple’s involvement in the project.
