“Dhurandhar” re-released with muted words, Ranveer Singh back in action

The Ranveer Singh-starrer "Dhurandhar" , one of Hindi cinema's biggest blockbusters, is back in theaters with minor edits. Certain words in a dialogue, “Baloch” and “intelligence” , have been muted, as their mention could be seen as offensive or sensitive to certain communities and organizations.

Officials from Aditya Dhar Films clarified that there was no directive from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The team approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) , and the edits were approved under Rule 31 of the Cinematograph Act, which allows certified films to be modified as long as the larger meaning of the scene remains intact.

Released on December 5, "Dhurandhar" has earned over Rs 700 crore in India and crossed Rs 1,000 crore globally, creating waves for its high-octane spy-action storyline. Set in Lyari, Pakistan , Ranveer Singh plays an Indian spy who infiltrates a gang of criminals and arms dealers. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt , and R Madhavan , adding star power to its intense plot.

Recently, the film was declared tax-free in Ladakh , with Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta's office highlighting that it was extensively shot in the region. The announcement also promoted Ladakh’s cinematic landscapes, signaling support for filmmakers and tourism.

Fans can look forward to the second part of the movie , set for release in March this year, promising more thrilling espionage and action-packed sequences.
