Dharmendra’s 90th birth anniversary: fans gather outside actor’s residence to celebrate his legacy

Fans, Bollywood celebrities, and family members are coming together to celebrate what would have been the 90th birth anniversary of legendary actor Dharmendra, remembering his life, legacy, and enduring influence in Hindi cinema.

Dharmendra, fondly known as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” passed away on November 24, 2025, just two weeks short of his 90th birthday. To honor his memory, the Deol family hosted a special fan interaction at his Juhu residence, where admirers gathered outside holding photographs, sharing memories, and offering tributes. Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Karan Deol were seen participating in the celebrations, expressing gratitude for the love and support of fans. Among the attendees was Praveen Kumar from Bulandshahr, who brought plants to distribute to fellow fans as a tribute to the late star.

Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha paid an emotional tribute, calling Dharmendra his “first hero” and “elder brother.” Sharing nostalgic memories on X, he wrote, “Heartbroken, pained & deeply saddened by the passing away of our dearest family friend, our elder brother, people's hero. Most loved, son of the soil, pride of Punjab/Maharashtra, a 'Bharat Ratna' in true sense, down to earth, kind & humble. An era of 'He-Man/Star' has gone. My first 'Hero' & People's Hero in the film industry is no more. Strength to the family, friends, well-wishers & fans in these traumatic times. Om Shanti.”

Actress-politician Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife, shared heartfelt memories and emotions on Instagram, reflecting on their life together and the pain of losing him. She wrote, “Dharam ji, Happy birthday my dear heart. More than two weeks have passed since you left me heartbroken, slowly gathering up the pieces and trying to reconstruct my life, knowing that you will always be with me in spirit.” Hema expressed gratitude for their joyful years, their two daughters, and the moments that continue to bring her solace. She prayed for his peace, acknowledging his humility, kindness, and love for humanity.

Hema also shared a series of rare family photos, featuring candid moments with Dharmendra and their daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, giving fans a glimpse into their personal memories. Abhay Deol, too, paid tribute to his uncle with a throwback picture and a heartfelt note recalling a cherished moment from the 1980s.

Earlier, the Deol family organized a prayer meet titled Celebration of Life at Seaside Lawns, Taj Lands End, Bandra, attended by eminent members of the film fraternity, including Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and her husband, Karan Johar, Rekha, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, and Abhishek Bachchan. The event included an emotional musical tribute, honoring Dharmendra’s contributions to cinema and his lasting influence on generations of fans and colleagues.
