Dhanush's OM: Chapter 1 Enters Final Malaysia Shoot, Likely to Avoid Jailer 2 Clash
Dhanush's most ambitious big screen spectacle, OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood , is entering the home stretch. After months of shooting across multiple locations, the high budget multilingual action thriller has now moved to Malaysia for its final filming schedule , marking the last leg of production before the cameras stop rolling.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who delivered the blockbuster Amaran , the film has built enormous anticipation ever since its title teaser unveiled the mysterious world of Udhiram: The Blood Wood . The teaser hinted at an intense, large scale action adventure, with fans praising its cinematic visuals and intriguing tone.
The Malaysia schedule is expected to continue for nearly two weeks , after which principal photography will officially wrap. The makers will then shift their complete attention to post production, including visual effects, sound design and background score, as the film gears up for its theatrical release.
What makes OM: Chapter 1 even more exciting is its powerhouse ensemble. Alongside Dhanush , the film stars Mammootty, Naseeruddin Shah, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in pivotal roles. The project also features Indrans and Chaitu Jonnalagadda , making it one of the biggest casts assembled for a Tamil film in recent years.
Originally announced for a October 16, 2026 worldwide release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi , the film is now expected to shift to a later date. The move is widely seen as a strategy to avoid a high profile box office clash with Jailer 2 starring Rajinikanth, although the makers are yet to make an official announcement on the revised release plan.
Backed by Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios , OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood is produced by Dhanush , Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag . The film's music is composed by the fast rising Sai Abhyankkar , while Ezhil Arasu handles cinematography and R. Kalaivanan takes charge of editing. Industry insiders are also watching the film closely as it marks another major collaboration between Dhanush and Rajkumar Periasamy following the director's breakout success.
With production almost complete, a stellar cast, an acclaimed director and growing curiosity surrounding its story, OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood is shaping up to be one of the biggest Tamil releases on the horizon.
