Dhanush, Nithya Menen reunite for Idly Kadai , set for Oct release

Tamil star Dhanush is back in the director’s chair with his upcoming drama Idly Kadai , where he also plays the lead opposite Nithya Menen. The two previously worked together in the acclaimed film Thiruchitrambalam (2022), and their warm on-screen chemistry, backed by a strong off-screen friendship, is one of the major highlights of this reunion.

Produced under Wunderbar Films in association with Dawn Pictures, Idly Kadai also features a stellar supporting ensemble.

The film was officially announced in September 2024, with principal photography commencing the same month. While most of the shoot took place in Chennai, select portions were filmed in Thailand. Production wrapped up in April 2025. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music, Kiran Koushik has handled cinematography, and Prasanna GK has done the editing.

The Telugu version, titled Idli Kottu , will be released alongside the Tamil version. Recently, the makers unveiled a melodious track — Kottagunde in Telugu and Enna Sugam in Tamil — which has already garnered positive buzz.

Idly Kadai is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 1 October 2025 .
