Dhanush In Talks For Mythological Jungle Drama With Sanjay Leela Bhansali, PS Mithran
Dhanush is reportedly set to headline an ambitious mythological jungle drama backed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Tamil filmmaker P.S. Mithran. The project, which is expected to mark Mithran’s entry into Hindi cinema, has been generating buzz since reports about the collaboration surfaced earlier this year.
According to reports, Bhansali Productions is backing the film, while Mithran is set to direct the story, which is said to combine mythology with a jungle setting. The project reportedly took shape after Mithran’s earlier plans for Rowdy Rathore 2 with Bhansali Productions did not materialise. The filmmaker subsequently worked on several ideas before settling on this large scale concept.
The latest development has added more weight to the reports. During the promotions of Sardar 2, Mithran was reportedly asked about his collaboration with Dhanush. The filmmaker said, “Talks are going on for that film. Once finalized, we will officially announce it.” His comments indicate that discussions are indeed underway, although the project has not yet received an official announcement.
Interestingly, earlier reports claimed that the film was initially planned with Ram Charan in the lead. The Telugu star was reportedly approached for the project before the makers eventually moved towards Dhanush. The reason for the reported change in casting has not been officially revealed.
If finalised, the project would bring together Bhansali’s large scale production vision, Mithran’s reputation for content driven thrillers and Dhanush’s versatility as a performer. It would also add another major Hindi project to Dhanush’s expanding filmography.
For now, the film remains in the discussion stage, with the makers expected to make an official announcement once the details are locked.
