Dhanush Congratulates Vithya Ramraj On Her Three-Medal Asian Games Haul
Actor Dhanush met Tamil Nadu athlete Vithya Ramraj and congratulated her for her impressive three-medal haul at the recently concluded 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The actor also honoured the athlete with a memento and posed for pictures with her and her family.
Vithya, who hails from Coimbatore, won gold in the women’s 4x400m relay, silver in the mixed 4x400m relay and bronze in the women’s 400m hurdles. Her hurdles performance became one of the biggest highlights of her campaign as she clocked 54.75 seconds on September 28, breaking the national record held by legendary athlete P.T. Usha since 1984.
The 28-year-old athlete’s achievement is particularly significant given her journey in athletics. Vithya and her twin sister Nithya Ramraj, who is also a national-level athlete, grew up in a family supported by their father, who worked as a truck driver. The family faced financial difficulties during their early years, including challenges in arranging training equipment and running shoes. Nithya was unable to compete at the Asian Games after an injury.
Vithya’s performances earned widespread appreciation in Tamil Nadu. Dhanush personally congratulated her and wished her continued success in her sporting career. Other public figures have also recognised her achievements following her historic Asian Games campaign.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Dhanush’s upcoming OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, has been postponed from its earlier October 16 release date. The action drama, which also stars Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah, is now scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 20, 2026. The postponement came amid a clash with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2.
Dhanush was last seen in Kara, while OM will mark his second release of 2026.
