
‘Devaraaya’ Revealed: Kichcha Sudeep To Bring Vijayanagara’s Golden Era To Screen
Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has given fans a memorable birthday surprise by officially announcing his next film, Devaraaya, a grand historical drama based on the life of Sri Krishna Devaraya, one of the most celebrated rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The film will see Sudeep portray the legendary emperor who ruled between 1509 and 1529, a period often regarded as the golden age of the Vijayanagara kingdom. Known for his military victories, administrative vision and patronage of art, literature and culture, Sri Krishna Devaraya remains one of South India’s most iconic historical figures.
The announcement was accompanied by a striking first-look poster that instantly grabbed attention. Sudeep appears in a regal avatar, adorned with an ornate crown, royal jewellery and traditional attire, standing against a dramatic torch-lit backdrop that reflects the grandeur of the era. His commanding screen presence has already generated excitement among cinema lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
Adding to the buzz, the makers also released a teaser video featuring glimpses of vast kingdoms, powerful armies and intense battle sequences, hinting at the film’s epic scale. The visuals suggest that Devaraaya aims to recreate the splendour, power and cultural richness of the Vijayanagara Empire on the big screen.
The ambitious project is being backed by People Media Factory, a production house known for mounting large-scale films. The movie is slated for a December 2027 release, giving the team ample time to craft what could become one of the biggest historical spectacles in Kannada cinema.
With its blend of history, grandeur and star power, Devaraaya has already emerged as one of the most anticipated films among fans of Kichcha Sudeep.
