Devara Part 2 to Start Filming in May 2026
The makers of Devara: Part 2 , starring Jr NTR, have officially confirmed that the much-anticipated sequel will go on floors in May 2026 , with a theatrical release planned for 2027 . The announcement brings clarity to persistent speculation surrounding the film’s schedule, especially in the context of the actor’s packed line-up.
Producer Sudhakar Mikkilineni of Yuvasudha Arts confirmed the timeline, stating that the sequel will be taken up after Jr NTR completes work on NTR–Neel Part 1 , which is slated for a mid-2026 release. The confirmation has reassured fans that Devara: Part 2 remains firmly on track despite the extended gap between the two instalments.
Directed by Koratala Siva , Devara: Part 2 is expected to significantly expand the narrative canvas set by Devara: Part 1 , which released in September 2024 and emerged as one of the biggest Telugu hits of the year. The first part went on to gross over ₹500 crore worldwide , driven by large-scale action sequences, a strong emotional core and Jr NTR’s much-discussed dual role.
Trade sources indicate that the sequel is likely to be mounted on an estimated budget of ₹350–₹400 crore , placing it among the most expensive Telugu films ever made. While the producers have not officially disclosed the budget, the scale of production is expected to surpass that of the first part, with elaborate action set pieces, extensive visual effects and major sequences set against coastal backdrops.
Actors Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan , who played key roles in the first instalment, are expected to reprise their parts, although formal announcements regarding the final cast are awaited. The sequel is also expected to delve deeper into the backstory of Devara, expanding the conflict hinted at in the concluding portions of the first film.
Despite the high production cost, industry analysts believe the film is well-positioned to mitigate financial risk through strong pre-release business , including theatrical, OTT and satellite rights. The success of Devara: Part 1 has also raised expectations for the sequel’s box-office potential across domestic and international markets.
With filming set to commence in May 2026, Devara: Part 2 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Telugu projects currently in the pipeline, as fans await further updates on its storyline, shooting locations and release plans.
