Deotale Leads India’s Strong Compound Showing At Archery World Cup Stage 2

Former world champion Ojas Deotale delivered a top-class performance as India put up a strong collective display in the compound qualification round of the Archery World Cup Stage 2 here on Tuesday.

Deotale shot 711 points to finish seventh overall , leading the Indian challenge. Sahil Jadhav also scored 711 points , with rankings decided on X-count, while Kushal Dalal’s effort ensured India secured the third seed in the men’s compound team event .

Asian Games medallist Abhishek Verma ended 25th with 705 points and missed out on the team combination, though he will compete in the individual elimination rounds.

In the women’s compound section, Aditi Swami was India’s best performer with 700 points, finishing 13th overall. Pragati (697 points) and Jyothi Surekha Vennam (21st) completed the trio as India earned the fifth seed in the women’s team event .

The combined performances placed India among the stronger teams in qualification, with Mexico, South Korea and the United States occupying the top three positions in the women’s team rankings.

In the compound mixed team event, Deotale and Aditi Swami combined effectively to post 1411 points , securing the sixth seed , underlining India’s growing strength and balance across categories.

Overall, India produced a consistent and competitive showing across both men’s and women’s sections , with multiple archers advancing to the knockout stages and securing favourable seedings in team and mixed team events.

The results further highlighted India’s depth in compound archery, with strong individual scores translating into competitive team standings across all categories at the World Cup stage.The recurve qualification rounds are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, marking the next phase of competition in Shanghai.

India’s strong qualification performance ensures they remain well-placed across events, with Deotale’s leadership and Aditi Swami’s consistency standing out in an otherwise closely contested field dominated at the top by Mexico, South Korea and the United States.
