Delhi SIR: 47.5 Lakh Voters Dropped From Draft Roll—Here’s How to Get Your Name Back

The Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi’s electoral rolls has entered a claims-and-objections phase after the draft list excluded about 47.5 lakh voters from the 1.45-crore electorate.

The exclusion is not necessarily permanent. During house-to-house enumeration, officials collected and digitised forms for about 97.5 lakh electors. The remaining voters were treated as “uncollectable” as Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others (ASDDO). More than 43 lakh of those excluded were in the absent or shifted category.

Voters whose names are missing can seek inclusion during the claims period, which runs from August 31 to September 30, 2026. The Election Commission has provided three key forms.

Form 6 is for inclusion of an eligible voter’s name in the electoral roll. Applicants need to submit the declaration and supporting information or documents required under the rules.

Form 7 can be used to object to an entry or seek deletion of a name where the voter is dead, shifted, duplicated or otherwise ineligible. Form 8 is used for correction of electoral particulars and address-related changes.

The forms can be filed online through the Election Commission’s voter services platform or through an election office/BLO. Voters should first check the draft roll using their EPIC number, name or mobile number.

Officials will examine claims and objections and scrutinise disputed entries. Voters classified as absent or shifted can establish that they remain eligible and ordinarily reside at the relevant address. Suspected deceased or duplicate entries can similarly be challenged or verified.

More than 33 lakh voters whose names remain in the draft roll are also expected to receive notices because their enumeration details could not be linked to the 2002 Delhi SIR roll or contain mismatches and anomalies. A notice gives them an opportunity to clarify discrepancies.

The notice, verification and disposal process continues until October 29. Delhi’s final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 4, 2026.
