Delhi Police Questions CJP Leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka Over Jantar Mantar Protest

The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Thursday questioned Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in connection with two FIRs registered over an alleged violation of restrictions at Jantar Mantar during a protest on October 13.

Both leaders appeared at the Crime Branch office in Rajouri Garden around 11 am, where a team of officers questioned them as part of the ongoing investigation, police sources said.

The cases relate to the alleged unauthorised entry into the denotified protest site at Jantar Mantar, where CJP members had staged a demonstration and unfurled the national flag.

Two FIRs were initially registered at the Connaught Place and Parliament Street police stations. Both cases were subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

The police had previously summoned Das and Ranka to join the investigation. However, the two leaders had sought additional time and did not appear on the earlier occasions.

Their appearance on Thursday comes as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the October 13 protest and the alleged breach of restrictions at the designated protest venue.

Further details of the questioning and the investigation were awaited.
