The Delhi Police has filed a 973-page chargesheet before a city court against Rahul Meena , the former domestic help accused of raping and murdering the 22-year-old daughter of a senior IRS officer , marking a significant step in one of the capital's most shocking criminal investigations.

According to police sources, the incident took place on April 22 , when the accused allegedly entered the family's residence using his prior knowledge of a spare house key while the victim was alone. Investigators claim Meena sexually assaulted the woman before allegedly strangling her with a mobile phone charging cable after she resisted his demand for money.

The victim, an IIT graduate preparing for the Civil Services Examination , was discovered by her parents after they returned home from the gym around 8 am. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

The chargesheet states that the accused allegedly fled after stealing Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. Police further allege he changed into the victim's brother's clothes before escaping to avoid immediate identification.

Investigators have relied on a combination of forensic evidence , CCTV footage and witness testimonies. According to the chargesheet, fingerprints, palm prints, thumb impressions and DNA samples collected from the crime scene and the victim matched those of the accused. Police have also listed 82 witnesses to establish the sequence of events during the investigation.

Meena was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka on the evening of the crime after CCTV footage allegedly captured him entering the residential complex at 6.30 am and leaving around 7.20 am .

A senior police officer said the accused had accumulated debts of Rs 5-7 lakh due to online gambling. During interrogation, Meena allegedly claimed he had visited the residence only to seek money and that the crime "just happened". The case will now proceed through the judicial process before the trial court.
