Delhi police busts interstate drug network, seizes Rs 2 crore worth narcotics

In a significant breakthrough in its anti‑drug campaign, the Delhi Police’s Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has dismantled an interstate drug supply network, arresting two men and seizing narcotics worth over Rs 2 crore in the illegal market, officials said on Friday.

Acting on specific and credible intelligence about large‑scale drug trafficking, the ANTF of the Crime Branch executed a raid on the night of February 21 at the residence of Sarthak Tyagi (30) , a property dealer residing in Moti Nagar, West Delhi. The team apprehended Tyagi from a room on the first floor after obtaining a search warrant, police said.

Senior officers overseeing the operation said the raid was conducted under FIR No. 32/26 registered at the Crime Branch police station on February 22 , under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act .

During the search of the premises, the police recovered large quantities of multiple narcotic and psychotropic substances , including 1.016 kg of marijuana, 1.112 kg of charas, 17 grams of MDMA, one gram of ecstasy tablets and four grams of psilocybin mushrooms . Based on market estimates, the contraband seized is valued at more than Rs 2 crore in the illegal market .

Tyagi, during interrogation, confessed to procuring and distributing narcotics through an organised interstate supply network . Following his disclosure, investigators identified Kulpreet Singh alias Sunny (29) , a resident of Ashok Vihar in Delhi, as a supplier linked to the network. A Crime Branch team subsequently apprehended Singh in connection with the case.

Preliminary inquiries also indicate that Singh may have previously been involved in a narcotics‑related case in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh , though exact details are being verified, officials said.

Police records show that Tyagi has prior criminal involvement, including cases registered in 2018 under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and in 2015 under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code at Moti Nagar police station. Authorities said further investigations are underway to identify other members of the interstate supply chain and dismantle wider elements of the syndicate.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav reiterated that the Crime Branch remains committed to its zero‑tolerance approach against drug trafficking and will continue intelligence‑driven operations to curb the narcotics trade and ensure public safety.
