Delhi police bust drug syndicate in NCR, Arrest two foreign nationals

Delhi Police have dismantled an organised drug trafficking syndicate operating across the National Capital Region (NCR) with the arrest of two foreign nationals from West Delhi, officials said on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Precious alias Promise (26) , a Nigerian national, and Geoffrey Boateng alias Mike (44) , a Ghanaian national, both residents of Uttam Nagar. Police recovered a significant quantity of synthetic drugs, including MDMA and ecstasy pills , from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid a trap near Mohan Garden on December 9 last year and apprehended Precious while he was allegedly waiting to supply drugs. A search led to the seizure of 270 grams of MDMA and 40 ecstasy pills weighing about 18 grams . Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Boateng on January 30, from whom 72 grams of MDMA was recovered.

During interrogation, Precious revealed that he had entered India in 2022 on a medical visa which had expired, and was staying in the country illegally. He admitted to procuring drugs from associates in West Delhi and supplying them to customers across Delhi-NCR using fake mobile numbers and deleting communication records to evade detection.

Boateng, who entered India on a tourist visa in 2018 and overstayed after its expiry, confessed to jointly operating the drug syndicate with Precious. Police also said that Boateng had been previously arrested in a 2019 case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act .

Officials said the operation was part of a months-long effort to identify and dismantle networks involved in the trafficking of psychotropic substances in Delhi and adjoining areas. Further investigation is underway to trace the syndicate’s wider network.
