Delhi Police will deploy heavy security around Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) “Lehra Do Tiranga” protest, scheduled for Friday, October 16, at 5 pm, police sources said.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has called for a gathering at Central Park in Connaught Place and urged people to join the event, saying that waving the national flag is a democratic right. The party has also called for parallel Tiranga marches in other cities at the same time.

Police sources said several companies of paramilitary personnel had been stationed in the capital. Officers will be deployed at strategic locations, barricades may be erected, and the movement of protesters and commuters regulated to maintain law and order.

A senior police officer said Connaught Place is not a designated protest site and Jantar Mantar has been denotified as one. Demonstrations may be held at Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground or CBD Ground after obtaining the required permission.

The proposed protest follows the arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were detained after reaching Jantar Mantar and remanded to five days of judicial custody by a Special Executive Magistrate.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court declined to stop the planned gathering after police assured it that necessary measures would be taken to regulate the event and maintain order. The court did not grant an order barring the protest.

Commuters may face delays if crowd-control measures or diversions are required, although a specific traffic advisory for October 16 was not confirmed in the information available.

The gathering is scheduled amid restrictions on demonstrations at several central Delhi locations. Police have said organisers must follow applicable rules and obtain permission where required. The party’s call has also prompted heightened security arrangements around Connaught Place.

Authorities have not announced a confirmed metro station closure for Friday. Police are expected to regulate movement according to conditions on the ground and take action if there is any violation of law.
