Delhi Holi clash killing: Seventh accused arrested in Uttam nagar murder case

The Delhi Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the killing of a 26-year-old man during a violent clash between two neighbouring families in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area during Holi celebrations. With the latest arrest, the total number of adults held in the case has risen to seven, alongside the apprehension of a minor.

The newly arrested accused has been identified as Imran alias Bunty (38) . The incident occurred on the night of March 4 in the JJ Colony area , when Tarun (26) was killed after a dispute escalated between members of the two families.

Police said the confrontation began when water from a balloon thrown by a girl from Tarun’s family accidentally splashed on a muslim woman from the neighbouring household. What began as a minor incident quickly turned into a deadly clash.

Investigators noted that both families had been known to each other for nearly five decades , though tensions had surfaced earlier over parking spaces and garbage disposal .

Earlier arrests include Umardeen (49), Jummadeen (36), Kamruddin (36), Mustaque (46), Muzzafar (25) and Tahir (18) . Based on statements from the victim’s family, authorities have also invoked stringent provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act .

Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) carried out a demolition drive, removing illegal portions of a house linked to one of the accused , citing encroachments over drains that could obstruct water flow during the monsoon.

The clash had previously sparked unrest, with angry mobs damaging and setting vehicles on fire. Heavy police and paramilitary deployments remain in place, though authorities say the situation is now under control.
