The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) 's X handle after the Centre informed the court that the reason for blocking the account no longer existed following the conclusion of the NEET re-test .

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the order while hearing a petition filed by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke , who had challenged the Centre's decision to withhold the party's X account on May 21. Shortly after the ruling, the original handle, CJPforIndia , became accessible again.

Appearing for the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the account had been blocked to prevent "chaos" among students and parents ahead of the June 21 NEET re-test, as several posts could have caused confusion. Since the examination had concluded, he said the government had no objection to revoking the blocking order.

Observing that the primary concern was no longer relevant, the court allowed the petition and directed that the account be restored.

Dipke, represented by senior advocate Akhil Sibal , argued that the CJP's content constituted political satire protected under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. He contended that if specific posts were objectionable, authorities should have acted against those instead of blocking the entire account. The petition also alleged violations of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act and principles of natural justice, claiming the account was withheld without prior notice or reasons.

The CJP gained prominence after launching in May amid controversy surrounding remarks attributed to the Chief Justice of India. Despite the suspension of its original X handle, the group continued its online campaign through a new account while leading protests over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan .
