Delhi Electoral Roll Shake-Up: 47.5 Lakh Names Excluded From Draft List

The Burari Assembly constituency has recorded the highest number of voter deletions among Delhi’s 70 constituencies following the publication of the draft electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) on Monday.

According to official figures, 1.67 lakh voters have been excluded from the draft rolls in Burari, which falls under the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. In terms of the percentage of deletions, however, Tughlakabad recorded the highest rate at 47.85 per cent, followed by Okhla at 45.33 per cent, Kasturba Nagar at 44.03 per cent and Badarpur at 42.67 per cent.

Okhla recorded the second-highest number of exclusions at 1.63 lakh, followed by Badarpur with 1,46,673, Vikaspuri with 1,46,225 and Rithala with around 1.06 lakh deletions.

At the other end of the scale, Delhi Cantt registered the lowest number of exclusions at 22,855, followed by Rohini with 24,888, Shakur Basti with 27,233, Rajouri Garden with 30,856 and Matia Mahal with 32,099.

Rohini also recorded the lowest percentage of deletions at 16.5 per cent, followed by Shakur Basti at 18.74 per cent, Rajouri Garden at 20.86 per cent, Mangol Puri at 21.24 per cent and Matia Mahal at 24.5 per cent.

District-wise, South East Delhi recorded the highest exclusions at 6.79 lakh voters, while New Delhi district reported the lowest at 60,170. East Delhi saw 5.70 lakh deletions, followed by North East Delhi with 5.43 lakh, South Delhi with 5.19 lakh and North West Delhi with 3.71 lakh.

Overall, the draft electoral roll has excluded 47.5 lakh electors from Delhi’s existing voter base of 1.45 crore.

The publication has opened a month-long window for claims and objections. Eligible voters whose names are missing can seek inclusion, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on November 4.
