At least four people were killed and several homes damaged across Rajasthan after dust storms, thunderstorms, and strong winds swept through parts of the state, officials said on Friday.

The deaths were reported from Bharatpur, Bhilwara, and Dholpur districts. In Bharatpur's Jhorol village, Indra Devi (55) died when a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a late-night storm, while her differently-abled son was injured. In Bhilwara's Bijolia, Devilal Dhakad (45) was killed after a metal sheet blown by strong winds struck him.

In Dholpur's Baseri area, two brothers, Ramphool Singh and Samay Singh , died when a wall collapsed on them as they took shelter during the storm while returning home after grazing goats.

The severe weather also damaged infrastructure. In Bikaner , the roof of a government school collapsed, though no casualties were reported as the school was closed for holidays.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) , several parts of Rajasthan recorded rainfall and thunderstorms over the past 24 hours. Dungargarh in Bikaner district received the highest rainfall at 75 mm . The weather department said rainfall activity is likely to continue until June 7 , while temperatures have dropped by 2–3 degrees Celsius due to changing weather conditions.

The incidents highlight the growing impact of extreme weather events in Rajasthan, where sudden storms increasingly follow intense heatwave conditions. The fatalities and structural damage have also drawn attention to preparedness gaps , including vulnerable buildings, inadequate storm-resilient infrastructure, and the need for stronger local disaster-response measures.
