At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the Government of Telangana took a significant step towards strengthening its global technology profile by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based artificial intelligence company Blaize to establish the Telangana AI Innovation Hub . The initiative is aimed at positioning Telangana as a leading global centre for applied artificial intelligence , with a clear focus on translating AI innovations into real-world solutions that benefit governance, infrastructure, and public services.

As part of the agreement, Blaize will set up a research and development centre in Telangana dedicated to advanced and energy-efficient AI computing. The collaboration will support the design and execution of AI-driven pilot projects in partnership with state government departments, targeting key areas such as sustainability, infrastructure modernisation, smart governance, and improved service delivery . The hub is intended to move beyond experimental research and enable field-level implementation of AI solutions that address large-scale public and developmental challenges.

The Telangana AI Innovation Hub will function as an autonomous platform that connects the government, industry, startups, academia, and global technology partners. Built on strategic pillars such as talent development, impact-focused labs, innovation acceleration, and global ecosystem partnerships , the hub will nurture AI talent, support startups, and enable scalable deployment of AI applications across sectors. This approach reflects Telangana’s emphasis on execution-oriented AI adoption , rather than purely theoretical innovation.

Senior officials highlighted that the state views artificial intelligence as a critical tool for economic growth, responsible governance, and sustainable development . The partnership with Blaize is expected to help deploy responsible and ethical AI solutions in priority sectors while strengthening Telangana’s technology infrastructure. Blaize, known for its low-power, high-performance AI computing solutions, will leverage its expertise to work closely with the state in addressing infrastructure and public-service challenges through applied AI.

The initiative forms part of Telangana’s broader AI and innovation roadmap , which seeks to build on Hyderabad’s established IT ecosystem and expand into next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and semiconductors. Through global partnerships and institutional platforms like the AI Innovation Hub, Telangana aims to attract investment, create high-skill employment, and establish itself as a preferred destination for AI research, development, and large-scale deployment.

Overall, the MoU signed at Davos underscores Telangana’s ambition to play a leading role in the global AI landscape by combining policy support, industry collaboration, and real-world application, positioning the state at the forefront of applied artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
