Cyberabad police recover 1,061 lost phones worth ₹3.2 cr

In a major success for law enforcement and public service, the Cyberabad Police have recovered and returned 1,061 lost and stolen mobile phones valued at approximately ₹3.20 crore to their rightful owners. The initiative was made possible through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a government platform designed to trace and block lost or stolen mobile devices.

The Telangana Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department highlighted the achievement on social media platform X, lauding the Cyberabad Police for their efficient use of digital technology to enhance public safety and service delivery.

The CEIR portal, an initiative of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), enables users to block their lost or stolen mobile phones, preventing misuse, and facilitates tracing once the device is detected on any network. By leveraging this system, the Cyberabad Police have demonstrated how tech-enabled policing can bring tangible results for citizens.

Officials urged the public to promptly register cases of lost or stolen phones and make use of the CEIR platform to increase the chances of recovery.

This milestone reinforces Telangana’s growing reputation for tech-driven governance and citizen-centric policing, ensuring safety and trust in an increasingly digital society.
