Cyber scams disguised as Google reviews on the rise

Experts are warning people to be cautious of cybercriminals who are targeting unemployed individuals and ordinary citizens with false promises of easy money online.

Scammers are luring people with ads and messages claiming that they can earn thousands of rupees by writing Google reviews, rating apps, or completing simple online tasks from home. These offers often promise high earnings in just a few minutes a day.

According to authorities, the scams frequently start through WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS links. Initially, victims are convinced they can make small amounts of money, but later they are pressured to pay larger sums. Once the money is sent, the scammers often block accounts or stop responding.

Police advise people not to fall for these schemes, which exploit financial or employment needs. They emphasize that any part-time job offer or online earning opportunity should be verified through official websites, company details, and registration information before taking any action.

If someone becomes a victim of such fraud, they should immediately contact the Cyber Crime Helpline. Authorities also recommend avoiding suspicious links and offers from unknown numbers.
