The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced ‘Currentolla Janabata’, a new public outreach programme aimed at addressing electricity-related problems at the village level and improving electrical safety. State Energy Minister Gavi Ravi Kumar launched the initiative at Mogarala village in Tirupati district.

The programme will be implemented across areas served by the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) and focuses on taking power services directly to rural communities.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said Currentolla Janabata is designed to ensure quick identification and rectification of faults in electricity lines while preventing accidents. Officials and technical teams will inspect village-level power infrastructure and interact directly with consumers to register complaints and resolve them without delay.

Key activities under the programme include inspection of agricultural power lines, replacement of damaged electric poles, and installation of protective fencing around transformers. Where necessary, transformers will be mounted on raised concrete platforms, and unsafe or sagging power lines will be removed to minimise the risk of accidents.

The initiative will also encourage the adoption of rooftop solar power systems in rural areas. Officials will engage with villagers on issues related to electricity bills, consumption patterns, and service delivery, helping improve awareness and transparency.

The minister said the NDA-led coalition government is prioritising the construction of new substations across Andhra Pradesh to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to farmers, households, and industries. He added that Currentolla Janabata will act as a bridge between the government and the people, enabling authorities to better understand local needs and deliver safer, more efficient power services.
